About Us

Troop 163 was chartered in September 1964. It was originally sponsored by St. Stephens R.C. Church in Trumbull. In 1971 when St. Jude R.C. Church was established from St. Stephens, Troop 163 moved to Monroe and has been sponsored by the St. Jude Parish since.

Troop 163 meets each Sunday from 4:30 PM till 6:00 PM. Troop meetings consist of Scout Skills, games, advancement, and Outdoor planning. The troop camps each month, except December. The outdoor activities vary from month to month. Some of the trips in the recent past include: Canoeing, Rock Climbing, Backpacking, Whitewater Rafting, Shotgun and Rifle Shooting, Historic Trail trips, Caving, and much more!

Troop 163 also has a Venture Crew for those scouts in High School and who have acheived at least First Class. This is primarily a High Adventure crew. Some of the recent summer trips include: Backpacking at the Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico, Canoeing in the backwoods of Maine with Maine High Adventure, BSA, Sailing out of the Florida Sea Base & Bahamas base, BSA, and backpacking Mt. Washington in New Hamphire.
